Swimming Review Update
Dear Members
On Wednesday 23rd Jan 2008 a selection of the Warriors committee met with representatives from the Warrington BC to discuss the future of Elite Swimming within the borough.
Although the attendees covered many aspects of how Warriors are a crucial part of the Warrington BC swim scheme there was no real concise output on what the future holds for either parties.
The only real conclusion was Warrington BC have 4 primary objectives:
1. Learn to swim programmes (Swim Scheme Learn to Swim)
2.Public Swimming
3.School swimming
4.Swimming Clubs / Training Squads
Therefore the current Swimming review is to establish how Warrington BC are able to achieve these objectives.
Warriors are committed to assisting the Council wherever possible to achieve these objectives but without detriment to it’s Elite level swimming.
The overall competitive model of the Warriors club is based on it’s success at Elite level and without the ability to supply this level of training opportunity for it’s members then it would not be able to achieve it’s own objectives in providing a structure whereby all swimmers are able to achieve their own true potential at competitive level swimming.
We are still awaiting clarification on the report submitted to us from WBC ‘Swimming – Focus on Change’.
WBC assures us that this review is not just targeted at Warriors but is to involve all of the other swimming clubs within the borough. Therefore our concerns are that many dedicated swimmers throughout the borough could be severely impacted by WBC plans.
Once again, as soon as we have further information we will update this page.
Many thanks for your support
